About Living Waters

A PLACE TO REST, RENEW &
RECONNECT

Tucked away in the Appalachian mountains of Mendota, Virginia, Living Waters Farm & Retreat offers a peaceful escape rooted in quiet hospitality, nature, and restoration. Whether you’re seeking a restful getaway, time outdoors, or a slower pace for a few days, our farm and retreat was created to help guests step away from the noise and experience true renewal.

Our Story

Built From a Desire for Restoration

Living Waters Farm & Retreat began after years of ministry and serving others through difficult seasons of life. After spending years pastoring and ministering in Nashville, Tennessee, we felt called to create a space centered around rest, peace, and renewal — not only for ourselves, but for others who may need the same.

When searching for property, we knew we wanted more than a cabin rental. We envisioned a place where guests could slow down, reconnect with nature, and experience genuine hospitality in a quiet, restorative environment. Surrounded by the beauty of Appalachia, Living Waters Farm & Retreat became that place.

Because Living Waters was born from seasons spent caring for others, creating opportunities for rest remains deeply personal to us. Alongside welcoming guests from all walks of life, part of our long-term vision is offering complimentary retreat stays for pastors and ministry leaders who may need time away to recharge, reflect, and experience renewal themselves.

Our Mission

Today, our goal is simple: to create a welcoming place where people feel cared for, comfortable, and able to truly rest. Whether guests come for a quiet weekend away, time outdoors, or a peaceful retreat experience, we hope Living Waters feels restorative from the moment they arrive.

Stewardship & Sustainability

Rooted in Restoration

Living Waters Farm & Retreat is more than a peaceful getaway — it’s an ongoing effort to restore and responsibly care for the land we’ve been entrusted with.

When we purchased the property, portions of the land had experienced significant environmental damage, including erosion, loss of wildlife habitat, and invasive overgrowth. Since then, we’ve been working alongside regional agricultural and conservation partners throughout Appalachia to help restore the health and sustainability of the property.

As the farm continues to grow, so do the experiences we hope to share with guests. Visitors can enjoy hiking trails, peaceful outdoor spaces, and time with the animals that call the farm home, including rescued donkeys, laying hens, and guinea fowl. Looking ahead, we plan to expand our agritourism offerings with organic herb and tea gardens, bouquet-making experiences, tea blending workshops, and additional hands-on experiences designed to help guests reconnect with nature in meaningful ways.

For us, caring for the land is deeply connected to the peaceful experience we hope every guest feels while visiting Living Waters.

The Meaning Behind The Name

Why We’re Called Living Waters

The name Living Waters Farm & Retreat comes from a deeply personal moment during the process of purchasing the property. While navigating uncertainty about leaving behind life and ministry in Nashville, we prayed for clarity and peace about what path to take next.

During a stop on the drive home, a scripture reference from John 4:13–14 unexpectedly appeared before us — a passage referencing “living water.” In that moment, the name immediately resonated with both the property and the vision we had been praying for: a place of peace, restoration, and renewal.

With natural springs, peaceful water features, and the quiet beauty of the land, the name Living Waters felt like a reflection of both the property itself and the heart behind it.
